CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF THE
BLACK HISTORY 101 MOBILE MUSUEM!
In 2025, we proudly celebrate 30 years of committed work in preserving and educating the public on Black history. Established by the visionary educator and scholar Dr. Khalid el-Hakim, the Black History 101 Mobile Museum stands as a renowned repository comprising over 15,000 original artifacts, spanning the painful era of the trans-Atlantic slave trade to the vibrant culture of hip hop. Dr. el-Hakim, often referred to as the "Schomburg of the Hip-Hop Generation," exemplifies an unwavering dedication to preserving and advancing the profound legacy of the Black Museum Movement.

As the nation’s premier traveling exhibition of Black history, the Black History 101 Mobile Museum has embarked on a remarkable journey across 43 states, sharing "ourstory" with over 1,000 institutions. For three decades, these highly sought-after exhibits have profoundly impacted individuals in diverse settings, including K-12 schools, colleges, corporate spaces, conferences, libraries, museums, festivals, places of worship, and cultural events.
